Yang Qian

Dr. Yang Qian joined the lab in October 2019 as a research associate. His work will focus on developing new optical methods to investigate mechanotransduction in hair cells, the receptor cells of the inner ear.

Yang completed his PhD in Electronics and Electrical Engineering at University of Glasgow. His PhD work focused on microparticle manipulation using laser-induced surface acoustic waves and opto-thermophoretic tweezers. He gained an MSc in Photonic and Optical Engineering at University of Nottingham, following a BEng in Measure and Control Technology and Instrumentations at Changchun University of Science and Technology in China.
