Nikolai Kiskin

Dr. Nikolai Kiskin was trained as a biophysicist at the Moscow University and received his PhD from the Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology in Kiev, Ukraine, for work on glutamate receptor desensitisation. Nikolai’s interests are in biophysics, neuroscience and in microscopy techniques. Before joining the lab, Nikolai worked at the National Institute for Medical Research, and at The Crick Institute, developing methods for parallel recording from the brain using glass-coated microwires. He also worked on the cell biology of endothelial cell secretion and on Scanning Ion Conductance Microscopy methods at Imperial. Nikolai is now supported by the NRC Research Associateship Program, and he investigates the influence of traumatic brain injury on the neurophysiological parameters of the rat auditory cortex.
