Petr Vikhorev

Dr. Petr Vikhorev joined the lab in 2021. He has expertise in the areas of biophysics, analytical and preparative biochemistry, measurement of cell mechanics, polarised and fluorescence microscopy, computer control of instrumentation using LabVIEW software as well as experience in building optical systems. He graduated from the Saint-Petersburg State University, Faculty of Biology and Faculty of Applied Mathematics, where he obtained MSc in Biology (Biophysics). He got his PhD in Cellular Biology and Cytology at the Institute of Cytology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He worked at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology in a muscle biochemistry lab, the University of York in the Drosophila flight muscle lab, the Linnaeus University in the molecular motor and bionano-group, and Imperial College London where he built and used an apparatus for single myofibril force measurements to study human cardiomyopathies.
